A horoscope — the daily, weekly, or monthly forecast most people are familiar with — is a simplified prediction based on a single factor: your Rashi, or moon sign. It's designed to apply broadly to everyone born under that sign, which makes it useful as general guidance but fundamentally different from a full birth chart reading, which accounts for your exact birth time, all nine planets, and all twelve houses specific to you.
One detail that surprises people: in Vedic astrology, horoscope columns are traditionally built around the moon sign, not the sun sign used in Western horoscopes. Your moon sign reflects your emotional and instinctive nature and can be entirely different from your sun sign — which is one reason a Vedic horoscope for "Leo" might read very differently from a Western one for the same label.
Vedic horoscopes are built around your moon sign (Rashi), not your sun sign — the two can differ, which is why a Vedic and Western horoscope for the "same" sign often disagree.
A daily or weekly horoscope offers a general emotional or situational tone — it can't account for your specific chart, timing, or life circumstances the way a full reading can.
Horoscope predictions are based on how currently moving planets interact with your moon sign's position — this is the mechanism behind why forecasts change week to week.
The most useful way to read a horoscope is as a general leaning, not a fixed outcome — a tool for reflection, not a script to follow literally.
